Requesting translations from a document view

Bloomreach offers Enterprise support for this feature to Bloomreach Experience customers. The release cycle of this feature may differ from our core product release cycle.

If the document editor frontend is installed (see Installation) and the applicable document type is enabled for translations (see Configuration), a button 'Translation' appears in the top bar when viewing a document. It opens a dialog from which translations for the document can be requested.

Overwriting the Target Document

From version 8.0.0, the request dialog also includes an Overwrite target document checkbox.

- Enabled: the target document is rewritten to match the source document's structure - existing content in the target is replaced entirely.
- Disabled (default): only the fields already present in the target document are translated; the target's existing structure is preserved.

This is intended for compounds that support reordering or adding items, where the target document's structure may have drifted from the source. Use it when the target document's field/compound structure needs to be brought back in line with the source; leave it off for routine translation updates where you only want field values refreshed.
